Nick Romano Injury Status

Nick Romano’s debut for the Phoenix Racing Honda team at the opening 250SX East round in Tampa ended prematurely due to him injuring his knee in the first qualifying session. The injury sidelined Romano for the night program in Tampa, and was evident in his performance in Ford Field, Detroit this past weekend.

Romano has taken to social media to confirm he has torn his ACL; however, it will not stop him from attempting to race the remaining rounds of the 250SX East series.

“Not much to say on Detroits performance although I gave it my absolute all. Update is I got results back after Tampa, & I did unfortunately blow out my knee. Gave it all the rest I could this week leading up to Detroit, I was no weight bearing until Friday lol. It was a very last minute decision to attempt to ride and see if I could even race, should I of been out there? Probably not, but racers race and given any opportunity to go out there and race my dirtbike I’ll be there.

“It’s not the way we want to start a season, or not the spot I want to currently be in. Bums me the hell out after this off season went amazing and here we are again hurt trying to just manage, but I’m proud of the teams and I effort and always will be. Week off to rest this thing up and we try again in Daytona.”

A weekend off for the 250SX East competitors provides valuable rest time for Romano, and we will next see him on track on March 1st, in Daytona.
