Arlington Incoming

Monster Energy AMA Supercross is heading to Arlington, Texas this week for round 7 of the 17-round Supercross series.

It's a Triple Crown weekend in Supercross. Couple that with the return of the West Coast 250’s and we are on for another cracking weekend.

Let's see what is making news this week

  • Will Chase Sexton be timing the gates again in Arlington? Detroit was not it! His opening lap and whenever that second crash happened to lose his visor made for an opening to the main event he would rather forget. The close was something else speed-wise. But he is yet to really put a whole main together. Yes, he has two wins. But, outside of Anaheim 1, the rest all need polishing.

  • Nate Thrasher had surgery on his broken finger after Detroit. He is aiming to be back racing in around 10 days from surgery for Daytona. That's going to be impressive if he makes it and doesn't have any issues with the wound opening up or causing excessive swelling in the repair area. These moto guys are tough.

  • Cooper Webb's moment is building. But we have yet to see a real Cooper Webb vs Chase Sexton battle. A Triple Crown isnt really the battle we want. But it might be the first battle between the two title contenders that we get to see in 2025. Who will better who?

  • Haiden Deegan has had 3 weeks to work out his supercross skills. Haiden has been fast in Supercross. But unlike his consistency in Motocross that earned him the title last season. Supercross seems to be filled with the odd mistakes and those mistakes are much more costly in a 15min + 1 main event. Has he worked out some consistency or repeatability in his Supercross skills ready for a tilt at the title in the remaining West Coast rounds? Or will it be more of the same so far?

  • Can the rookie capture that first win? Cole Davies was so close to glory in Glendale. Albeit a bad start and a stray tuff block stopped the first of what could be many Supercross wins for the young Kiwi. With another triple crown format in Arlington. Cole will no doubt be looking to follow through on what he started in Glendale.

  • Interesting note from the Feld SMX media release this week. In the 250 class. The Winner of this week's round has gone on to win the 250 title 59% of the time. Unfortunately for Haiden Deegan last year. His first win in the venue did not equate to the championship when it was a part of the East Coast championship in 2024.

  • Can Julien Beaumer keep it on two weeks this week, JuJu was spicy in Glendale off the start but shortly after his holeshot efforts in the first two moto’s of the night. Found himself on the ground and had to fight through the pack for a decent overall result. Has he learnt from his mistakes and is capable of putting it all together for three motos?

  • Ken Roczen, despite a somewhat predictable outcome in Detroit where he was stalked by Cooper Webb and passed late. Ken looked much better in the process than in previous years when the same scenario played out. Has Kenny finally moved past his health issues that have plagued his late moto endurance and mid to end-of-season results? Ken is lurking in 3rd in the championship and capable of getting into the title hunt if he has passed these health issues. Let's hope he has for the excitement it could bring to the championship.

  • It’s a Privateer nightmare this week. Triple crown events are great and painful all at once. If you are a privateer the effort that goes into one of these rounds only to not make the night program must be just wallet-killing. But the flip side of a depleted 450 field from injuries is the opportunity to make the night program. Who steps up this week? Grant Harlan put himself in the main last week for the first time in 2025. But the pack is looking hungry, Logan Karnow, Bubba Pauli, Scott Meshey and others are closing in. But who has the better one-lap speed to make it into the top 18 straight from qualifying, and who will be brave in the LCQ?

  • Jo Shimoda has to be better than he was right? Three weeks of rest should have helped his two broken fingers. But has the rest and lack of bike time finally caught up to him and his race fitness will suffer?

  • As much as we are excited for Arlington and the Triple Crowns. It’s Daytona next week! The longer track, the sand and the variations in track designs will be a welcome change at this point in the season.

That’s the news heading to Arlington. See you at the track.
