2025 Daytona Supercross Preview

The Monster Energy AMA Supercross series heads to the beaches of Daytona this weekend for round eight of the series. This weekend will also mark the return of the 250SX East competitors for the third round of their championship.

The Daytona supercross has been dominated in previous years by seven-time winner Eli Tomac. However, with Tomac and Jett Lawrence sidelined, the door has swung wide open for the remaining premier class competitors to clinch their first victory at the iconic Daytona International Speedway.

Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Cooper Webb heads into Daytona with a lot of momentum. The series points leader is fresh off back-to-back wins and has performed well at the World Center of Racing in previous years. Five runner-up finishes and one third-place finish give every indication that the #2 will be in contention for his first Daytona win this weekend.

Chase Sexton will be looking to make amends for his recent turbulent performances, which cost him the championship lead. Determined to put these woes behind him, the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider has finished in third place during his last three visits to Daytona. Sexton trails Webb by 5 points in the series standings.

Progressive Insurance Ecstar Suzuki’s Ken Roczen has finished on the podium five times in the opening seven rounds, with only Cooper Webb collecting as many trophies to start the year. The opportunity for the German to secure his maiden victory at Daytona International Speedway and claim his first win of the season is on the horizon this weekend.

After the controversy that unfolded in Detroit, Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Max Anstie leads the 250SX East championship by nine points over Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Levi Kitchen.

The Brit has been nothing short of amazing to start the season. He is the only rider to finish on the podium in the first two rounds, and it’s not far-fetched to say he was a certain winner in Detroit prior to the red flag saga.

The defending champion, Tom Vialle, currently resides in third place in the series standings, 12 points behind Anstie. The Daytona circuit plays to the strengths of the former two-time MX2 World Champion and is the site of his first supercross win last season.

Some non-factory racers to look out for this weekend are: Cullin Park, Carson Mumford and Henry Miller. All three are currently positioned inside the top ten in points, after performing well to start the season.
