Cooper Webb Wins Arlington Triple Crown!

Cooper Webb Wins Arlington Triple Crown!

Heading into the final race of the Arlington Triple Crown, the top five riders were separated by just three points, all in contention for the overall win. With it all being up for grabs, Chase Sexton found himself leading the race early on, seemingly on track for a race win and the overall victory. However, on lap 13, the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider stalled his motorcycle, surrendering the lead to Webb and allowing Roczen to make his way through.

Sexton made a last-ditch attempt to pass Webb on the final lap, but his frantic effort resulted in another mistake as he ran into the back of the #2 and crashed. Sexton finished fifth in the race and 3rd overall on the night. These costly errors are all too familiar for the #4; even more frustrating for Sexton was that he didn’t even need to win the final race, to secure the overall! Five points now separate Sexton from the summit.

The biggest benefactor of Sexton’s mistakes is Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Cooper Webb. His 6-1-1 scores secured Webb his second win of the season and sole control of the points lead as we head into Daytona. Webb now has 27 career supercross victories, with 7 of them now coming from AT&T Stadium! There is now a five-point buffer between Webb and Sexton.

Ken Roczen finished in 2nd place with 1-5-3 race scores. Roczen was in a position to win the overall, as he was leading early in race three, but the Suzuki rider failed to hold on. With four second place finishes this season, the #94 is now 19 points behind Webb in the standings, hungry to claim his first overall victory of the season.

Justin Cooper had his best ride of the season. He scored 2-3-6 across the three races which was good enough for 4th overall. The one glaring hole in J-Coop’s game is his inability to skim whoops, and the #32 mentioned post-race that he is working on building his confidence to skim them consistently throughout the main event.

You never know what you're going to get with Justin Hill, and Arlington was a prime example of that. The Team Tedder rider qualified fastest for the first time since 2020! He maintained his speed throughout the first two races, scoring 4-4 and staying in contention for an overall victory. Hill had a so-so third race, finishing in eighth, which placed him in a season-best 5th overall. This also marks his first top five finish since May 2023.

Phoenix Racing Honda rider Dylan Ferrandis notched back-to-back 8th place finishes in the Lone Star State. The Frenchman scored 9-6-11 across the three races and is looking to take control of his up-and-down start to the 2025 season.

Joey Savatgy put his Quadlock Honda machine back inside the top ten with his 10thplace finish. Savatgy’s teammate Shane McElrath also had a steady night on the out skirts of the top ten, finishing in 13th place.

Jerry Robin improved his career-best finish in the premier class to 14th at AT&T Stadium. The McGinley Clinic Privateer Support Program and Estenson Racing-supported rider impressed yet again in qualifying, finishing in 12th place and transferring directly to the night’s racing. Robin finished consistently inside the top 15 in the three races, going 15-14-15 for 14th overall.

Justin Starling qualified for his third main event in a row, finishing in 19th.

Gizmo Mods Rock River Yamaha’s Grant Harlan qualified for back-to-back main events via the LCQ, finishing 21st in the main event.

Last but not least is the McGinley Clinic Privateer Support Program and HBI Racing-backed competitor Scott Meshey, who qualified for his first main event since 2022. This also marks Meshey’s third premier class main event - good job for the Floridian!
