Nate Thrasher to Undergo Surgery

News broke leading up to this past weekend’s Detroit supercross, that Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing rider Nate Thrasher sustained a broken finger in an incident out his control. It was initially unknown whether he would attempt to line up in Ford Field, however, he opted in to race and fight through the pain.

A heat race win and fifth place in the main event was a massive surprise for Thrasher and the team. Unfortunately, the gutsy effort in Detroit has further damaged the broken finger and now requires surgery to get it fixed. Thrasher confirmed this in a social media post.

“Wow what a day in Detroit. When I broke my finger Tuesday, I really didn’t plan to race but after talking with a few doctors, we decided to at least try. I had it taped up and the mindset of doing the best I could which resulted in a heat win and 5th in the main. However, after the red flag as I was waiting for the restart, I realized my finger was completely stuck and couldn’t move it. Somehow I was able to still make it through those last laps with a now completely shattered finger. I’m getting surgery today to get it set and doc says I should be good to continue racing after this west coast round coming up!”

It is looking likely that we will see Thrasher return at the next 250SX East round, in Daytona on March 1st. Thrasher currently sits fifth in the 250SX East championship standings, 16 points behind Star Racing teammate Max Anstie.
