Thanarat Penjan, from Thailand, won Saudi Arabia’s inaugural FIM UAM Asian Supercross Championship in Riyadh on Friday.

With the win, Penjan also clinched the 2009 FIM UAM Asian Supercross Championship title.

Second place in Friday night’s event went to Japan’s Tadakauzu Otsuka. Filipino racer Kenneth San Andres finished third.

The Saudi Arabian Motor Federation (SAMF) hosted the race, the fourth of four in the 2009 series. The first three races were in the Philippines, then Mongolia & then Indonesia. This was the first time supercross has been held in the Middle East!

I extend our thanks to Prince Bandar bin Faisal, Chairman of Zain Reem, for sponsoring the event, and to Stephan Crapiet of the FIM UAM Motocross & Enduro Commission for their hard work” said the President of the Saudi Arabian Motor Federation, Mishaal Al-Sudairi.
