Anaheim 1 is done and in the books.

The week leading into it was hectic per usual, trying to get the race bike together and broke in and finalize everything before the 17 round season. Once we got there it was a huge relief. When it was time to hit the track I was excited and hungry to show everyone the work I’ve done this off season.

Came out qualifying 3rd fastest in the first 450 C session putting me 33rd overall. Made some changes to the bike to help handle the track conditions and came out and qualified 1st in the 2nd 450 C practice putting me 32nd overall heading into the night.

Was pretty happy with that for the first event of the year. Looking forward to trying and bettering that every weekend. Once the night show came around it had rained a decent amount leaving the track pretty treacherous. In the first 450 heat, I got a decent start.

Was moving up in the field and was in 12th. That’s when a caught an edge in the whoops and ended up high siding into the face of the triple leaving the bike pretty twisted. Did everything we could to straighten it before the LCQ but didn’t get everything done we needed.

I decided to still give it a go. As soon as I hit the first rutty slick section I realized the bike was still pretty tweaked and couldn’t race safely. Wasn’t the night I was looking for dnf’ing both of my races but the only way to go from there is up! Showed good speed in practice and showed my capability of learning the track and doing the rhythms as good as the top guys.

Have to work on getting my corner speed down better as well as some more consistent whoop speed. But overall I think the hard work I put in on the off season was shown and I’m excited to keep bettering myself week in and week out!
