World Motocross – Round 9 – BELGIUM

Genk circuit – Patrick Caps, Mickael Pichon, and Joel Smets take the wins

Over 20,000 fans, muddy track, each GP was 20 laps (40 minutes).

Caps takes over 125 points lead for the first time, although it’s very close between the top riders. KTM took the top six finishing positions today.

Mickael Pichon: Defending 250 World Champion, winningest French rider in GP history (22 victories), and his sixth GP win in a row (another record).

Stefan Everts still has a healthy points lead in the 500 class, and looks good to win another world championship.

Marnicq Bervoets & Stefan Everts will ride in the 250 class next year. They will be riding Yamaha’s new 450 four-stroke. (Rule changes for 2003 will allow four-strokes up to 450cc in the 250 class.)
