World Motocross Championships get started

World MX Round 1 – Zolder, Belgium




In the premier MX1 class, reigning World Champion Stefan Everts and
Frenchman Sebastien Tortelli did battle on the sandy and sometimes wet
Zolder circuit. Each won a moto, and each come out with 47 points.
Belgian Everts receives the overall victory based on his better second
moto performance. Everts, riding for Yamaha, and Tortelli, riding for
KTM, were far and away the best riders of the day.



In the MX2 class, it was KTM’s South African rider Tyla Rattray winning, with finishes of 3/1.
