First up on Thursday, January 2 – A press conference by Jeremy McGrath, detailing his recent retirement. It was in the Diamond Club at Edison International Field, with an outdoor patio overlooking the race track. Jeremy thanked his family, friends, people, and companies that have supported him throughout his life and career.
Jeremy said he has to think about his racing now, whereas before it came much more naturally. It’s of the things that started him thinking about retiring.
Ricky Carmichael, David Vuillemin, James Stewart, and Travis Preston were on hand for a little Q & A with the media as well.
Next up was a little riding demonstration by some riders.
For dinner, there was a Parts Unlimited gathering at Joe’s Garage, which features vintage cars and motorcycles. Lots of riders and industry folks having a good time.
In conclusion, Jeremy is much more than the greatest supercross rider ever. He is a classy, first rate guy. Humble, gracious, well-spoken, and sincere. At times during the press conference, emotions and tears for almost everyone in attendance. Other times, laughter. You just know Jeremy is going to attack the new things coming his way the same way he did on the track – as a winner.
On Friday, January 3 the riders got in some practice time on the race track.
Hope you enjoy the 39 photos so far!
