I think I feel some RACING coming on!
Published March 27th, 2009
This year is going to be different, a good different and I’m pretty sure we are going to see the level of racing and competitiveness on the track excel to a whole new level. In 2008 the Amateur race scene was extremely competitive, the talent was off the hook and this new “breed” of trained, prepped and dedicated women racers are joining the Professional Ranks taking the women’s Pro Class above and beyond what we have seen before. These racers are spending more time on Supercross style motocross tracks, spending more time with top notch private trainers and the bikes being built for these girls are replicating the bikes seen ridden by top factory riders.
We have Ashley Folick paving the way for women riders by being the 1st ever bonefide “Factory” rider for Red Bull Honda, which is history making. I’m excited to see if her level of support makes the difference in her career excelling into the realm of being competitive not only with the women, but with the men as well.
Local Amateur now Pro WMA Racer, Sara Price is going to definitely be the rider to watch. I have personally never met an individual that is driven to win as Sara is, she has a very tight regiment with her training on and off the bike, she has the support of a fleet, which is provided by her Mom and Dad, along with a large group of sponsors within the motocross industry. I spent an afternoon out at Perris Raceway watching her ride for a photoshoot and her style along with natural talent puts Sara into the ranking of any top male racer, which is a complement in our world of women’s motocross.
I hope everyone is taking time out to watch the new “Nitro Circus” show on MTV, Canada’s Womens Motocross Champion Jolene Van Vugt is living it up and having a blast keeping up with the crazy raw stunt action dreamed up by Travis Pastrana and the Nitro Team!! Make sure you check it out!! Matter a fact, our own local MXGirl here in Southern California Pro WMA Racer Tatum Sik made a guest appearance on the Nitro Circus, great steps into the Hollywood limelight for these extremely talented MXGirls.
