1987 Team USA, 1971 Roger De Coster, 1982 Brad Lackey

In 1987, Team USA (Bob Hannah, Rick Johnson, Jeff Ward) won the only Motocross des Nations ever held on US soil. In 1971, Roger De Coster was on his way to the first of his five world championships. These are my ‘home movies’ from the 1989 Unadilla 500 & 125 National Motocross. It was the last national of the year, held in mid October. You’ll see Jean-Michel Bayle (111), Jeff Ward (5), JoJo Keller (46), Jeff Stanton (7) Johnny O’Mara (20), Damon Bradshaw (45), Erik Kehoe (8), Guy Cooper (10), Mike Kiedrowski (762), Mike LaRocco (19), Larry Ward (971), Larry Brooks (12), Donnie Schmit (9), Doug Henry (369) and me (1).



JMB won the 500 class, with Jeff Ward winning the title. Damon Bradshaw won the 125 class, with Mike Kiedrowski winning the 125 title.

From Belgium, Brad Lackey is number 9, Andre Malherbe number 32, Roger De Coster is number 33. Pavement and cobblestone sections. Thunderstorm and lightning for the second moto. And Luxembourg has by far the longest track we’ve ever seen – almost 4 minutes a lap thru lush fields & apple trees.
