The Honda World Motocross team returned buoyant from the 3 day test near Milan, Italy in which several new racing parts and a variety of competition set-ups were evaluated with input provided by technicians from the Honda Factory in Japan and from Martin Racing Technology.
Rider duo, Evgeny Bobryshev and Rui Goncalves, completed two days of un-interrupted testing, from early morning until dusk, in which hundreds of laps at race pace were completed. Day 3 served as a de-brief day for the team to evaluate and analyse the range of data collected.
Technicians from Dunlop (tyres) and Showa (suspension) were also on hand throughout the test to provide technical expertise and direction for the variety of different set-up options that will be encountered across the course of the 15-round world championship season.
The test took place in the week following the Valence International meeting, which marked the first public outing for the new-look Honda World Motocross team. Bobryshev and Goncalves chalked up steady overall results (across two motos) of 11th and 12th respectively, providing a good foundation from which to build for the season ahead. The meeting was also attended by the technicians from Honda Factory who used it as an opportunity to further familiarise with racing on European soil.
Testing is set to continue in the early part of next month as the Honda World Motocross team continues development of the 2011 CRF450R ahead of the championship season, which starts on 9-10 April in Sevlievo, Bulgaria.
Roger Harvey, Off-Road Manager, Honda Motor Europe, “This was a really positive test for us. The support and technical expertise received from Honda Factory is invaluable. Combined with the technical insight and direction received from both Dunlop and Showa, this has allowed us to take a big step forward in the development of the 2011 machine. Both riders are going really well and are pushing each other forward in their personal development.”
Lorenzo Resta, Team Manager, Honda World Motocross, “We are really pleased that together, with official support from Honda, we are moving forward as a team and are growing in strength with every test. We came away from the three day test with a huge feeling of positivity and a feeling that we have collectively taken a big step forward. There is of course more work to be done as we prepare for the upcoming season but we are embracing the challenge ahead of us.”
