What is this race? Motocross? Supercross? Both? Neither?

Actually, who cares? It’s incredibly exciting because it’s got the top guys in the sport racing this Saturday night in Las Vegas in a unique format. Unique for two main reasons – It’s a track design that is being billed as a ‘hybrid motocross / supercross’ track, and, it’s three 10 lap main events! Very unique!

And oh yeah … how about the Monster Million Dollars on the line for any rider that can win all three main events? Biggest purse money in the sport as far I know. This event is going to be great!!

Below – a little video on the Thursday Press Conference of the Monster Energy Cup. And, here’s the link to Supercross.com’s feature article from Thursday with photos of the riders, track, and more.

Some of the riders and people at the press conference – 2011 AMA Supercross Series Champion and 2011 AMA Motocross Champion Ryan Villopoto. Fan favorite and one of the youngest riders in professional racing, Kevin Windham. Mike Alessi, Josh Hansen, two-time World MX2 Champ Marvin Musquin, and Honda’s newest rider Justin Brayton.

Jeff Emig was the host of the press conference. Ricky Carmichael was on hand to talk about the track design. I’m super pumped for another reason too, because we found out today that Ryan Dungey is going to making his KTM debut by racing here in Vegas Saturday night! Some other riders I saw Thursday – Supercross West Champ Broc Tickle, former World MX2 Ben Townley, and another former West Coast Supercross Champion, Jake Weimer.

The event is live on SPEEDTV, and of course, you can always find coverage on Supercross.com’s various platforms.
