Hanging out under the Honda Tent with her boyfriend Davi Millsaps, Miss Supercross, Brittney George, took a few minutes to talk with me at the opening round of supercross in Anaheim earlier this month.
How are you feeling now that we’ve started another exciting season of supercross?
I am excited and a little overwhelmed. It’s another exciting year that seemed to come up on us a little too fast, but I am more than ready to get started, and see all the racing action.
What’s new for you this year as far as being Miss Supercross?
Actually, they (Live Nation) just started a new Miss Supercross competition this year, so there will be some new girls at a few of the rounds, and they will announce the new winner of Miss Supercross 2008 in Las Vegas. This year for me, I am doing a little more announcing, The KTM Junior Supercross, and some stuff during the day.
I am very excited about all the new opportunities. I’ve certainly enjoyed the past two years working with Transworld and with Live Nation, and when it comes to any kinds of announcing or interviews I will do it … then at least I have more experience, and that’s something I am very interested in.
A new season of racing … your thoughts so far?
We have James Stewart, who is incredibly fast, and Chad Reed, who is a little bit hurt, and we have a lot of up-and-comers moving up into the Supercross Class. It should be really exciting!
What do you say to any girls that want to become the Next Miss Supercross for 2008?
The first thing I tell them is “Good luck!” Then I tell them if you know your facts about the sport, and you’re passionate about it, and you really want to be out there, then you’re made for the job.
I really enjoyed my time. Hopefully I can go on to other things, but I’d like to stay in this industry because I have such a passion for the it!
