Scott 2011 Product Introduction
Published May 16th, 2010
Scott introduced their 2011 product line in a unique way – by inviting us out to the largest private vintage air museum in the USA – Allen Airways in El Cajon, California.
The first person to speak, and he spoke about the museum primarily, is Bill Allen. Bill is the owner of the museum, and Allen Airways. It’s really something to see, as almost everything is original, including planes, equipment, posters, and more. The facility itself is beautiful, and also available to rent for corporate events (Buick is coming in this week, and Raytheon soon).
Bob Maynard, with THOR for so many years, commented that he had retired, and then received ‘an offer he couldn’t refuse’ to come work with SCOTT. A lot of the product line you see here was actually developed by Bob, and he says SCOTT is going to be ‘head to toe’ in motocross / supercross riding gear.
The SCOTT company is over 50 years old, with over 30 years in ‘moto’. One thing you moto-heads might notice, SCOTT has redesigned their logo.
One of the details in the new product line – in this case the 450 boots – Bob explained that SCOTT owns a running shoe company as well. So he went to see what goes in the insole of a top flight running shoe. It’s not a typical insole, or ‘footbed’! And that top notch insole is now inside every 450 boot.
The location of the museum is right next to Gillespie Field airport in El Cajon. And ‘Special’ guests arrived in a jet (a Cessna Citation II, with the new SCOTT logo). The special guests? SCOTT racers Davi Millsaps and Austin Stroupe.
The main hangar of the museum was opened, showcasing more of the 2011 SCOTT riding gear.
We’ll let the photos & captions tell the rest of the story!

Ever seen the engine of a WW1 or WW2 type plane???

Posters are original

Wow – now there is a real relic!

Another close up of a plane motor

Wow – that looks nothing like Davi Millsaps to me!

Austin Stroupe & Davi Millsaps ‘flew’ all the way (across the runway : ) in this SCOTT jet

Here is a good shot of the museum

It’s a very cool place. People actually build their homes that allow them to park their airplanes!

Some of the SCOTT helmets from a long time ago?
