Great racing in front of a sold-out crowd of 69,005 in San Diego. Stewart takes Supercross class, Short wins LItes …
James Stewart and Ricky Carmichael were like a synchronized tandem as they sliced and diced their way around a well-prepared race track in the 20 lap main event. Carmichael led the entire way, with James never more than a few bike lengths behind from lap 1 until lap 19. And then James pounced on an inside opening in a tight left handed turn, passing Carmichael for the lead, and the win. It was very exciting!
Chad Reed finished in third position, and hometown favorite Jeremy McGrath, possibly riding in his last ever AMA Supercross event, finished fourth.
“RC” leads the all-important point standings with 139. James Stewart is second with 128. Reed is third with 124. The series heads next week to begin it’s East coast run, starting in St. Louis Saturday night.
Andrew Short took the victory in the 15 lap Lites main event. Grant Langston made a nice charge thru the pack to take the runner up spot, with Nate Ramsey finishing third. The point standings have Short in first with 118, Langston right behind with 116.
