In his first full season in the premiere 450 Supercross class, Team Suzuki’s Ryan Dungey has clinched the 2010 AMA / FIM Supercross Series Championship. And he’s done it with three rounds still left to race!
Here are Ryan’s race results of this 2010 Supercross season so far (not including the Seattle, Salt Lake, and Las Vegas rounds still to be run):
- St. Louis – April 17 – 1st
- Houston – April 10 – 5th
- Jacksonville – March 27 – 2nd
- Dallas – March 20 – 1st
- Toronto – March 13 – 2nd
- Daytona – March 6 – 2nd
- Atlanta – February 27 – 1st
- Indianapolis – February 20 – 2nd
- Anaheim – February 13 – 4th
- San Diego – February 6 – 6th
- San Francisco – January 30 – 4th
- Anaheim – January 23 – 1st
- Phoenix – January 16 – 1st
- Anaheim – January 9 – 2nd
Clinching the championship came about in a little bit of a ‘different’ way. We’ll let Feld Motor Sports explain:
Dungey’s victory in St. Louis Saturday night moved him into a 77 point lead over the next closest contender in third, San Manuel Yamaha’s Josh Hill. With only 75 points available over the final three races, Dungey’s lead is safe and secure, and when the Minnesota native takes to the track on Saturday night in Seattle, he will join legendary Jeremy McGrath as the only two riders in the history of supercross to capture the premier class championship as a rookie.
Congratulations Ryan Dungey the 2010 AMA Supercross Series Champion!
