MX Grand Prix to return to Britain in 2003!

It has been confirmed by Andy Nicholls in his role of Promoter that provisional dates of August 2 & 3 of 2003 have been agreed to by DORNA to stage a British Motocross Grand Prix after a three year absence.

The venue selected and approved by Jordi Pons, in consultation with the organizers, Frank Dixon, (ACU Motocross Committee Chairman) and the Dave Nichol, is Rushmoor Arena near Aldershot. The superb MOD owned venue lends itself to what could be one of the foremost GP’s in next year’s calendar. The area around the natural amphitheater meets and in most cases exceeds DORNA’s requirements and could prove to be a permanent jewel in the crown of British Motocross if ambitious plans by Nicholls for a 5 year deal come to fruition.

The site boasts hard standing areas for the pits and spectators, with car parking and camping for approximately 12,000 cars. The teams involved will find first class facilities for them within the pit area with single and three-phase electricity, running water and drainage.

The only construction needing to take place in the interim is the track, which the natural terrain lends itself to a very exciting layout.

Event promoter and former GP winner Andy Nicholls said “It is a lovely feeling to bring a GP back to Britain in what will be an action packed weekend. We fully intend to make this an event that Britain can be proud of with music and various other forms of motorcycle sport represented to make it a weekend to remember for all the family.”
