Monster Energy Cup Track Design Finalized
Feld Motor Sports, along with 15-time AMA National Champion Ricky Carmichael, finalized the track design for the second-annual Monster Energy Cup at Las Vegas’ Sam Boyd Stadium on October 20.
The 2012 Monster Energy Cup features an all-new track design inspired by Carmichael. The Carmichael-inspired track design will consist of supercross and motocross obstacles unlike any other racetrack design in the world. Watch the video below!
This year’s all new track design will feature a 200′ banked sweeping turn that will be built up into the stands, a split start consisting of two 11 rider starting gates separated 220′ apart from each other before they converge at the apex of the 300′ start straight inside the stadium and for the first time ever, a joker lane, will be used. The joker lane will consist of deep sand and take the riders out of the track circuit for approximately six seconds before reentering the track. Every rider will be required to use the joker lane one time during each of the three Main Events.
