The first three rounds of the 2012 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series kicked offÃ‚Â this month, with the new Star Valli/Yamaha/Metal Mulisha Racing team battling the competition in Anaheim, Phoenix and LA’s Dodger Stadium in recent weeks. Here are some highlights:
- Anaheim: Mulisha founder Brian Deegan hung-out in the pits to see Mulisha rebirth the team’s roots with a full Supercross season housing some of Supercross’s top riders such as Ryan Sipes, Kyle Cunningham, Austin Stroupe, Gareth Swanepohl, Nico Izzi, Ryan Morais and Kyle Peters.Ã‚Â Stroupe placed into a 5th place qualifying finish, while Sipes had a great run finishing off with the fastest lap time!Ã‚Â Morais put on the pressure and made his way up front, passing the checkered flag for a 5th place finish. Nicco Izzi battled his way into a 3rd place finish and capping off a great day, Sipes advanced throughout his race to take a 5th place finish.
- Phoenix: Star Valli/Yamaha/Metal Mulisha Racing riders Nicco IzziÃ‚Â recovered from an earlier injury to place in the top 10, while teammates Ryan Sipes and Gareth Swanepoel overcomingÃ‚Â earlier crashes.
- Los Angeles: Ryan Sipes won his heat race, battling with Max Anstie and staying in front of Dean Wilson for the win. Meanwhile, Nicco Izzi took 4th place in his heat and ended up with an 11th place in the main, which currently keeps him in the top 10 for the points standings.
