Mel Pocock dominates first round of the UEM EMX250

The first ones to go out to the track this morning at Saint Jean d’Angely were the UEM EMX250 riders, who took part in the second heat of the first round of the series. Mel Pocock dominated the second heat and took the overall victory, as he also won the first race yesterday. Second was Jeremy Seewer and third Stefan Olsen.

Monster Energy Yamaha’s Pocock has become the first leader of the 2012 UEM EMX250 championship after wining the two heats in Saint Jean d’Angely. Yesterday the British rider got a really tight victory ahead of home rider Maxime Desprey, but today he succeeded in taking the lead during lap four and he kept the lead until the chequered flag. The British rider was speechless after the second heat and he is fully determined to keep the red plate on his Yamaha until the end of the season.

The second position was for Swiss rider Jeremy Seewer, who finished third in both heats. The Suzuki MX Team 91 rider has made a solid debut in the championship after finishing third last year in the UEM EMX125 series, and he is for sure one of the riders to take into account for the top positions of the championship.

Danish rider Stefan Olsen completed the podium of the EMX250 class with just one point advantage over Ullrich. Yesterday the Jtech Racing rider did not have a good start but he managed to finish fourth. Today he had a better start and he rode a consistent heat in the fourth position.

Dennis Ullrich did not have a good start yesterday, but he managed to go from twelfth to fifth, but with two laps to go, the German made a mistake overtaking a lapped rider and had to settle down with the eighth position. Today, instead, he took the holeshot and he crossed the finish line second, which gave him the overall fourth place.

KTM Silver Action’s Tim Gajser had a solid moto yesterday finishing fifth and today he obtained the same result but he had to push really hard as he started down in the eleventh position. The Slovenian, who is leading with authority the UEM EMX125 class, wanted to take part in the first round of the UEM EMX250 championship to prove his skills on a bigger bike and in fact he showed everybody his incredible potential.

Home rider Maxime Desprey, who finished second yesterday, missed the podium today due to a crash he suffered in lap six of the second heat. Desprey exchanged the lead of the second heat with Pocock during the first laps, but he then crashed and was down to 18th. In the end the French rider crossed the finish line twelfth and obtained an overall sixth position.

Benoit Paturel was seventh, Mike Kras eighth and Brent Van Doninck and Arnaud Aubin completed the top ten.
