Legends & Heroes Motocross Tour has Largest Vintage Display at Freestone MX 2010!

Published June 10th, 2010

Thanks to Texas Vintage Racing Club (TVRC) and the AHRMA community for assisting the Legends & Heroes Motocross Tour with the largest display of the season.

Freestone Raceway in Wortham, TX, the second stop of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship, took place this past weekend as owner, Tony Miller, set aside a special section for the display along the north section of the spectator area. Under the best Texas shad, in the sweltering Texas heat, 53 pristine vintage machines ranging back from 1926 to 1986 were on display. This area is now known by all the folks who came out as the “Vintage Valley” at Freestone!

Our vintage bike show was organized by Billy Click and Jay & Rene’ Huffman this year. Spectators who came by were shown some of the best machines in the Texas area. Multi Champion and the Legends & Heroes supporter, Steve Wise stopped by the display to visit and do a few autographs with the fans. Steve also took the lead during the “Legends & Heroes Lap of Honor” prior to the start of some great racing on a cool Steve Wise 125 Honda prepared by local race enthusiast and collector, Joe Newman. Also joining Steve was Glen Urguhart on his 1976 YZ 125, Billy Click on a 73 Husky and Rhett Howell on a pristine 1983 Pro Circuit replica Husky.

To keep it in the family, many three generation families came by to chat and view the Boyesen Link RM 250 Hannah Suzuki. The Davis Family (Gary Davis (grandpa), Cory Davis (son) and Blake Davis (grandson)), from Livingston, TX were all there to marvel at the technology and hear the story of the first production bike to win a USGP on us soil. The Boyesen engineered bike is part of the 2010 Legends & Heroes Motocross Tour and will be on display across the country at all venues all year long.

Also on hand was an authentic 1974 Kawasaki 250 prepared by Kawasaki’s Tony Miller. This machine represented some of the finest classic restorations on display under the Legends & Heroes banner all weekend.

Our next stop of the Legends and Heroes tour will be at High Point Raceway this coming weekend
