Chad Reed wins … Davi Millsaps takes 125 East / West Shootout …
250: Chad Reed took his fifth win of the season, followed by Ricky Carmichael in second. Kevin Windham led much of the main event, but a miscue in the whoops put him back into 3rd.
125: Davi Millsaps, Grant Langston and Josh Grant took the podium in the shootout, which was quite a challenge via downed riders and lappers.
Lap times were around 1 minute 10 seconds. James Stewart injured his thumb in heat 2, and was unable to race in the main.
Team Makita Suzuki factory rider Sebastien Tortelli is likely to miss virtually the entire AMA Motocross season after damaging his wrist during a mid-week practice crash.
The 26-year-old Frenchman, who was one of the favourites for the outdoor crown aboard his RM-Z450, missed Saturday’s final AMA Supercross round in Las Vegas, but still finished seventh overall in the series.
Team Makita boss Roger DeCoster said: “Sebastien crashed during practice for the outdoor season and severely damaged his wrist. He underwent surgery the following day and has had it pinned to keep it in place.
“It’s hard to say how long he will be out as the pins have to stay in for at least six-to-eight weeks, then another four weeks for recovering and it could be up to another month after that before he can race properly. So at best, he may be able to compete at the final four rounds of the AMA Nationals,” he added.
