KTM making the move towards off-road motorcycle market in Malaysia
Sel Narayana recently visited the country of Malaysia to meet with Malaysian State of Perlis Sultan Honorable Y.A.M DATO’ SERI Syed Badlishah Ibni Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail, Mr. Kenny Lee, and to help bring Malaysian Supercross and Motocross riders to the USA for training with 2-time World Motocross Champion Seb Tortelli.

Malaysian Sultan Honorable Y.A.M DATO’ SERI Syed Badlishah Ibni Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail and Malaysian KTM distributor and CEO Mr. Kenny Lee agreed to send young riders to participate and get special training with World Motocross Champion Sebastien Tortelli at his Champ Factory facility in Perris, California.
This happened at the press conference unveiling of the KTM 250 SXF and 350 SXF motocross and supercross racing machines in Malaysia.
This is part of the 1Malaysia ‘concept’, which is for all of the country to strongly emphasize ethnic harmony, national unity, and efficient governance.
Invitation from Sultan for riders to come to America & Sebastien’s Champ Factory MX Camp
For KTM and this program, this was about building the next generation of Supercross and Motocross racers for the 1Malaysia concept. It is supported by KTM Austria, as well as the Sultan and KTM Malaysia.

Tortelli’s two week Champ Factory MX Camp in California started with instruction to do basic training, including rider technique, nutritional fundamentals, and rider discipline requirements to enter in to the professional level.

Tortelli said “I am really surprised to see the riders picked up very fast and adopted the riding style quickly. I am amazed & pleased to see their improvement in one day. I can see there is another part of the world which we will see huge growth in motocross and supercross in the future, and that is Asia. I’m sure we will see more Asian participation in our sport in the near future.”

The meeting in Malaysia, the press conference, and bringing the riders to the USA was implemented by KTM Austria Director of Logistics and Sales South East Asia, Sel Narayana. He designed this to fit the needs of south East Asia riders and racers. Sel will be spending his time to develop the growth of the South East Asian market for KTM.
Sel says “I am excited once again to make my move to contribute my time to build the next generation of kids in Malaysia and South East Asia, besides my job in sales. Working with the Kids program was my passion during my time with KTM USA. I will continue building the same in Malaysia and other Asian countries. There are talented riders in all parts of the world, but we are especially seeing such big growth in South East Asia. Once given the all the opportunities, you’ll see the rapid growth”.
