What is Supermoto? In simple terms, Supermoto is a combination of motocross, dirt track, and road racing.
KTM is helping introduce Supermoto to United States motor sports fans. KTM invited members of the media to Cajon Speedway in El Cajon, California to actually ride Supermoto machines on a sample Supermoto track.
A typical Supermoto track will have road racing sections, jumps, dirt, and sometimes more. The bikes are a cross between dirt machines and road machines.
KTM’s goal today was to have the media understand Supermoto better, get excited about it, and let everyone in the United States know about the upcoming race in Las Vegas. (See schedule below.)
KTM is a driving force behind Supermoto coming to America … and why not? KTM has the perfect machines for it, The Duke (a Supermoto-based street bike) and the Supermoto LC4 (more dirt-oriented like a dual-sport).
Supermoto is very popular in Europe, with almost every country having a National Championship series. It’s just catching on here in the United States.
