It’s the annual Yamaha Kart Day & Race Team intro
Published October 15th, 2003
Riders rotated shifts in the karts, with a member of each team always out on the track. Who won? We don’t know – we were too busy having fun. And that’s just how Yamaha likes it.
We’re here at the Dromo One Indoor Karting facility close by Anaheim stadium (Edison International Field) in California. It’s the annual Yamaha Kart Day and Race Team intro for 2004!
Bob Starr from Yamaha explains: “It’s our annual ‘Kart Day’. It’s all about fun. And it’s also the introduction of our 2004 race teams. All the riders are here, and we invite the media to come out and have a good time. It’s a good chance for the journalists that attend to meet the riders in an informal setting – all in one place and all at one time, which we don’t get to do during the year.”
First was breakfast. Best blueberry pancakes ever. Next Bob Starr made some opening remarks. Then Keith McCarty introduced everyone from the Yamaha 2004 race teams. After that we all went indoors to the track. Dromo One employees explained all the rules of racing and the facility in the drivers/riders meeting.
Nine teams, and a three hour 20 minute race:
