Glen Helen MX Park, San Bernardino CA: Ivan Tedesco fell in the first moto. Grant Langston won the first moto, but was penalized for cutting the track during a heated battle with Mike Alessi. Alessi was then scored as winner in the first moto, with Langston second. Rookie Ryan Villapoto caused a stir by finishing third. Tedesco finished outside the top 20.
The 2005 AMA 125 Championship came down to the final moto with Tedesco leading Mike Alessi by 10 points. Tedesco and Alessi then crashed together on the opening lap of the second moto. Tedesco remounted way back, Alessi even further back. Langston won the second moto, and the overall. Villapoto finishes second. Tedesco rode to 11th place, and Alessi DNF after falling near the very end. Tedesco is champion. Got it so far?
Also, Team USA (Ricky Carmichael, Kevin Windham, and Ivan Tedesco previewed their ‘look’ for the upcoming Motocross des Nations in France. Their bikes USA team graphics, and they rode with numbers 101, 102, and 103. (Check out the photos.)
And Ricky Carmichael continued his domination of the sport, winning both 250 motos. He won every overall of the 12 race series, and is simply the best. Ever.
Special thanks to Pat Schutte, The Lovell’s, and Mary Jo. We’ll have a lot more info & photos during the week
