Deegan recovers to win Pro-Lite Unlimited, Twitch takes first in Super Lite at Surprise, AZ

Irvine, Calif. (September 29, 2010) – Team Metal Mulisha dealt the competition a 1-2 punch this past weekend, taking home wins in both the Pro-Lite Unlimited and Super Lite classes at the Lucas Oil off-Road Series event in Surprise, AZ. Mulisha founder and pioneer Brian Deegan overcame some early troubles to take the checkered flag in the Pro-Lite Unlimited class on Sunday, while Jeremy ‘Twitch’ Stenberg was victorious in the Super Lite class on Sunday, one day after finishing 3rd.

Although Deegan was not able to finish in Saturday’s Round 11 due to motor problems, he rebounded during Round 12 on Sunday. Driving his #38 Rockstar/Etnies Ford, Deegan quickly moved up from 4th to 2nd after two competitors were tangled in turn five, then sped past Marty Hart on the final lap to take a dramatic win. With the victory, Deegan climbed to the top step of the podium for the first time since Round 2.

Mulisha teammates Twitch and Jeff ‘Ox’ Kargola battled it out all weekend in the Super Lite class. Following his impressive 3rd place in Round 11, one place ahead of Ox, Twitch was gunning for a Sunday win. Sharing the front row with Ox to start the race, Twitch eventually took control in what was the final contest of the weekend. Ox got out to an early lead, with Twitch running second in his #88 Rockstar/Maxxis Tires truck, before passing Ox wide in turn four to take the lead for good.

“I’m proud of the Mulisha team this past weekend – it’s awesome to see our guys dominate in a few different race classes,” said Deegan. “Fortunately, I raced well and got a few breaks on Sunday to take the flag, which definitely made up for my engine issues in Round 11. Twitch and Ox are neck-in-neck, those guys are really progressing as drivers.”

The Lucas Oil Series heads to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway for Rounds 13 and 14, with racing on Saturday and Sunday, November 6-7. For more information on Mulisha athletes and news, visit the Metal Mulisha Facebook page or www.metalmulisha.com.
