Chad Reed wins Italy’s “Superbowl of Supercross” in Genoa

Supercross and Motocross star Chad Reed has won today’s Genoa Supercross, by taking second in the first Main Event, and winning the second Main Event. This race was Chad’s first race in ten weeks, and also marked the first event for newly appointed Technical Director Mike Gosselaar under the TwoTwo Motorsports banner.

In the first 15 lap main event, Reed was involved in first turn melee that left him back in the pack. The Australian thrilled the Italian crowd, coming through the field to finish second. Reed won the final 15 lap race ahead of race one winner Justin Barcia, and was awarded the overall victory based on the two moto performance, with the better second moto being the determining factor.

Chad said afterwards, “I had a great time out there. It was good to get a couple of races under my belt and see where I am at with my preparations for 2012. The track was tight so it was important to get good starts. I had a crash in the first race but still came through to second. As a team we learnt a lot and it will definitely help our preparations for 2012.”

Reed will now return to the United States to continue testing ahead of the opening round of the 2012 AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship at Anaheim’s Angel Stadium on Saturday 7th January. The schedule for the 2012 AMA Supercross Series
