REED ON FIRE IN AUSTRALIAN SUPERCROSS MASTERS RETURN! After a stunning second place finish in his debut season racing the World 250cc Motocross Championship, 19-year-old factory Motorex Team Kawasaki rider CHAD REED returned home to Australia to absolutely dominate the 11th round of the SUPERCROSS MASTERS series at the SYDNEY SUPERDOME.

In front of a near capacity crowd at the indoor Sydney Olympic venue, CHAD REED launched a one-man blitz on the 20-lap main event that left American teenage sensation TRAVIS PASTRANA in a distant second place, the Team Suzuki Australia rider having no answer for the Aussie’s lightning fast start and scorching race speed.

“I’m pretty happy with that,” beamed Reed from the top of the podium. “It feels really good to come back home and win a SUPERCROSS MASTERS, given that I’ve been racing motocross all year long. I really wanted to win tonight, and knew that if I got a good start and rode smooth and fast I could win, and that’s pretty much how it went. It feels great to win for all my fans here at home.”

Second-place Pastrana had no answer for the flying Reed. Boxed out of the first turn jumble of bikes, Pastrana was fifth through lap one as up front Reed holeshot and steamed away from the pack. Pastrana carved his way around the soft and rutted track to pass O’Neal Honda’s SHANE METCALFE, Taylor and Anderson in the opening laps, but from there could never make an impression on the flying Reed.

“I’ve gotta say I pushed pretty hard there to get through (to second), but wow, Chad rode awesome tonight,” Pastrana explained. “I’ve never raced against Chad before, but after tonight, well, I’ve got some work to do. He’s on fire. Chad’s coming to the USA next year, and from what I’ve seen I’ve gotta say he’s gonna do real well.”

3. Craig ANDERSON – KTM

REED BEATS PASTRANA AGAIN IN 250cc DOGFIGHT. ANDERSON & DORRON CLINCH SUPERCROSS MASTERS CHAMPIONSHIPS!

REED & PASTRANA 250cc STARS, while Anderson and Dorron were doing all that was needed to clinch their championships. Factory-backed Kawasaki Australia rider CHAD REED and Suzuki Australia’s TRAVIS PASTRANA were the undoubted stars of today’s 250cc Final. Reed and Pastrana went at it hammer and tong in the main event, blazing their way through the field after poor starts and then taking the fight to one another before Reed managed to gain the upper hand and take back-to-back wins across two nights of racing at the indoor Sydney SuperDome venue. The dynamic duo cut a swath through the pack, lapping almost the entire field and each giving the other as good as they got. On lap 18 Pastrana cased the triple jump, allowing Reed to finally put the win beyond doubt. Pastrana regained his Suzuki to finish second, while Taylor completed the podium, just one place ahead of Anderson.

“That was a great race – I really had to work for it,” pumped Reed after he event. “Last night was pretty easy, but tonight was much tougher. Still, I’m stoked to come through with the win again. It’s been a great weekend, the crowd here at home has been so supportive, I’m stoked to be able to come home and win again.”Pastrana was similarly upbeat after the race, but knowing full well Reed had clearly signaled his impending arrival in the USA in the clearest possible terms. “I rode 110 percent out there, and in the end Chad got the win,” said Pastrana. “We both went at it pretty good, and really turned it on tonight. It was great fun. Chad’s a great competitor, and I have to congratulate him – he rode really, really well.”
