The first Saturday in January marks the start of supercross in the USA. Round 1 was held Saturday night at Edison International Field in Anaheim California.

Chad Reed dominated the 20 lap 250 Main event on his Yamaha YZ 250. Yamaha team members David Vuillemin and Tim Ferry finished second and third, giving Yamaha a strong start towards the championship for 2004.

Ivan Tedesco on a Pro-Circuit Kawasaki KX 250 four-stroke won the 15 lap 125 West Main event. Nathan Ramsey of Team Honda was runner-up, making a successful return to supercross after sitting out last season with a leg injury. Stephane Roncada finished third riding a Pro-Circuit Kawasaki.
