Red Bud Track ‘n Trail
Carmichael sweeps 250′s, Langston controls 125′s …
250: Ricky Carmichael wins again. Watch him, study him, appreciate him, cheer him. He is the best ever. He won both motos today on the RM 450 four-stroke. Kevin Windham took the runner-up spot with moto finishes of 3/2, and James Stewart was third overall with moto finishes of 2/3. Chad Reed DNF the first moto, came back with a fourth in the second moto.
125: A very competitive class. Grant Langston – former world and national champion, Mike Brown – former national champion, Mike Alessi – young upstart, Ivan Tedesco – regional supercross champion making great strides outdoors, and a host of other riders all capable of moto wins.
Today, Langston out lasted them all, going 1/2. Second overall was a surprising Ryan Mills, with Andrew Short taking third. Mike Brown leads the point standings with 193, Tedesco second with 169, and Langston third with 163.
Notes: AMA Pro Racing announced that two riders were penalized 25 points each for using illegal fuel at round four at on June 19. Riders penalized: Michael Byrne and James Stewart. Fuel samples were taken from nine bikes at Budds Creek. Samples of Byrne and Stewart were found to be in non-compliance. Fuel from the motorcycles of Mike Brown, Ricky Carmichael, Josh Grant, Grant Langston, Akira Narita, Chad Reed and Ivan Tedesco was found to be in compliance. The fuel samples were sent to a certified testing lab which confirmed that the fuel did not meet the requirements specified in the AMA Supercross/Motocross Rulebook.
