Australasian Supercross Series, Round 6 – November 22 – Townsville
Round 6 of the Australasian Supercross Series had some unique happenings … the first being the weather, which was ‘rain’, and made the track a bit slippery for everyone. The second was that the winner was not Chad Reed, but Jay Marmont! The third was that the greatest supercross rider in the history of the sport made a trip from his home in southern California all the way to Australia to compete … and that would be Jeremy McGrath!
The series is also unique in that different race formats are used frequently for various events – something very new to the sport of supercross. (Watching the video below will give you an insight into that.) The big winner in the 450 class on the night – Jay Marmont on his number 2 Yamaha took home the Gold, followed by Daniel McCoy with Silver, Chad Reed with Bronze, and Jeremy McGrath fourth.
Matt Moss clinched the Lites championship, with one round remaining (Brisbane) with his second place tonight. The winner was Tye Simmonds.
