Loma Linda Children’s Hospital is a very special hospital in southern California. They offer their patients (& parents) the assurance of receiving the highest level of medical care available. Their medical team has more than one hundred pediatricians, pediatric surgeons, and specialists on hand. They also have additional staff of more than 1,200 nurses, child specialists, and others who are dedicated to the health and healing of children. Together they provide a family-focused environment backed by state-of-the-art care.
This year marked the 7th annual Big Air Kids Fair at Loma Linda. What is the Big Air Kids Fair? It’s where supercross, motocross, and freestyle riders gather at the hospital to meet all the kids, and hand out as many gifts as possible! In addition, there is a freestyle demonstration right in front of the main entrance to the hospital!
In so many ways, the motorcycling industry makes what is an ordinary day for these ill children something special. But, as we all got to spend time around the kids, we realized that in fact, they made our day even more special.
We asked Michelle, who also works in the medical field with children, to come along for the day and combine motorcycling (for the first time!) and kids. What a perfect fit! In the video below, you’ll see some of the freestyle action, interviews with founder Steve Bauer, 2008 AMA West Supercross Champion Jason Lawrence, multi-time Supercross/Motocross Champion Grant Langston, Loma Linda Children’s Hospital Administrator Dorothy, Freestyle riders Jeff Tilton, Tommy Clowers, Dustin, Myles, and our friend (and hospital patient) – Michael!
We hope this video gives you a little taste of what the 2009 Loma Linda Children’s Hospital Big Air Kids Fair was all about!
We aren’t able to show you so many of the kids at Loma Linda, because we need to respect their privacy. But again, we can definitely tell you, they were able to brighten our day just by being able to spend a littie time with them.
