2012 Women’s AMA National Motocross – Southwick MX – Round 7

Round 7 of the 2012 AMA Women’s Motocross National championship took place at the Moto-X 338 National in Southwick, Massachusetts. Going into today’s race, Jessica Patterson leads the series with a 2 point over Tarah Gieger, and 11 point lead over Ashley Fiolek.

TLD / Lucas Oil / Honda’s Gieger nabbed the first gate pick, as she qualified with a best lap time of 2:08.628 seconds, followed by Ashley Fiolek (2:08.791) and Jessica Patterson (2:10.648).

The defending WMX national champion, Fiolek got the holeshot in both motos and led every lap to finish 1/1 on the day. With today’s win, Ashley moves to second in the points standing and pulls to within 5 points of the championship leader, Rockstar Suzuki’s JP$ who finished 2nd overall (2/2). Gieger who finished 4th overall (3/5), drops to third in the standings and is now 10 points behind Patterson. Congratulations goes out to Sara Pettersson, who continues her success with her second podium of the year, as she finished 3rd overall on the day (4/4).
