Christophe Pourcel and Michael Leib get the job done in Italy
It was five years ago to the event that Christophe Pourcel last raised a winner’s trophy on a Grand Prix podium but the awesome Frenchman was a class act around the demanding hills and ruts of the Fermo track for the Grand Prix of Italy and posted Monster Energy to the top of the box for the second time in a week.
In MX2 Michael Leib was the main man as he placed the Monster Energy Yamaha on the podium as runner-up in only his second ride on the factory machine.
Also protagonists in Italy across a track that was brutal in terms of its narrow margin for error and difficulty were Tommy Searle – who described his second moto charge from last to second as one of his best races yet – Christophe Charlier on his debut as a works Yamaha rider in MX2 and of course Gautier Paulin again on the factory Kawasaki for what was a cracking first MX1 moto between the French stars.
