The big story coming into Round 15 Faenza – will Jeffrey Herlings and Tony Cairoli win the 2012 FIM World Motocross Championships in MX2 and MX1? Herlings has won today’s MX2 Qualifying race for tomorrow’s Grand Prix. Sebastien Pourcel and Christophe Pourcel finished 1/2 in MX1 Qualifying, with Tony Cairoli 14th.

MX2 – Jeffrey Herlings is doing all that he needs to do to claim his first ever World Motocross title – winning. A lot. He’s won today’s Qualifying race for tomorrow’s MX GP of Europe here in Faenza, Italy. Jeffrey can clinch the championship tomorrow. Teammate Jeremy van Horebeek finished second, and American Zach Osborne finished third today. Max Anstie qualified 22nd, and American Michael Leib 32nd.
MX1 – It was the Pourcel brothers – Sebastien and Christophe finished 1/2 in today’s Qualiyfing race. That makes it a French/Kawasaki 1/2 as well. Josh Coppins has made a return to MX GP racing, on Yamaha, and finished 10th today. World Motocross Champion Tony Cairoli, racing in front of his home crowd, qualified 14th. He can also clinch the MX 1 World Championship tomorrow – which would be his sixth world title.
