The Lierop track is a traditional Dutch sand track. It’s in a beautiful wooded setting, and today’s weather was perfect.
In MX2, series points leader and hometown racer Jeffrey Herlings fell on the opening lap, and had to restart dead last. Even in this short (11 laps, 24 minutes) race, he passed riders each and every lap, making it look easy in the rough sand, to take the lead and the win on the final lap.
In MX1, it was Red Bull KTM team mate Tony Cairoli, also the series leader and current World Motocross Champion, making easy work of the class, winning in a nice, smooth style.
Notes: Clement Desalle is riding with an injured hand. Yamaha announced they have signed Steve Frossard to a long term contract.
