MX1

The obvious fan favorite, Frenchman Steven Frossard, has won the MX Grand Prix of France, winning the first moto, and taking second in the second heat on his Monster Energy Yamaha. And the huge French crowd loved it. It’s also Steve’s first career overall Grand Prix victory in MX1. World Motocross Champion Tony Cairoli, number 222 on the Red Bull Teka KTM, finished second overall today, with finishes of 2/3.

Clement Desalle of Belgium had a poor first moto – a crash on the opening lap, relegating him to near last. He recovered up finish 11th in the race, and then came back strong to win the second moto. Clement finishes third overall on the day, and leads Tony Cairoli by six points now in the MX1 Championship point standings.

Second overall today goes to American Zach Osborne – Zach had consistent 3/3 finishes. Third overall goes to Frenchman Gautier Paulin, to the delight of the French crowd.

Team KTM Red Bull Teka rider Ken Roczen, who is leading the championship points chase, won the first moto. In the second moto, he had a few falls to derail his day, ultimately finishing fifth overall. Jeffrey Herlings finished in fourth position today, with moto finishes of 7/2.

Tommy said he’s happy for the team and the win, and feels like he needs to win races to be in the hunt for the championship.
