Loket (Serpentine Circuit)
Saturday – Lots of rain and mud today in practice. Seeding for the start of tomorrow’s Grand Prix is being based on Time Practice of today.
In the meantime, there was lots of action off the track as well. The Italian Motorcycling Federation has banned World Motocross Champion Tony Cairoli, and former World Motocross Champion David Philippaerts from competing for Italy at the upcoming Motocross of Nations. Read more here …
And, the French Motorcycling Federation has announced their 2010 Motocross of Nations team, which includes World MX2 Champion Marvin Musquin, AMA East Supercross Champion Christophe Pourcel, who will ride a 450, and Xavier Boog. Read the official press release here.
And, both Tommy Searle and Max Anstie will be racing on Kawasaki’s in 2011, and racing in the World Motocross Grand Prix series in MX2.
Sunday – the weather is great. Looking forward to three great races – MX1, MX2, and Women.
This is old school motocross at it’s best. Of course, it’s the World Motocross Championships, but just arriving at the race track brings back memories of how motocross used to be – beautiful. 100% natural setting. 100% natural terrain track.
In MX2 today, Marvin Musquin and Ken Roczen waged their own personal battle. Roczen dominated the first moto, winning by a large margin. Musquin made a great charge thru the pack to come up to second.
In the second moto, they were able to battle close together, with Musquin taking the win, and, the overall victory. Roczen gets second overall, and Gautier Paulin scored third.
Steve Frossard had a fall in the first moto, which dropped down his overall score. Jeffrey Herlings fell in the second moto after a nice third in the first race. It looked like he hurt something in the shoulder / collarbone / arm area.
MX1 – Tony Cairoli is The Man in MX 1. He led the first moto, but Tanel Leok eventually went on to win that race, with Tony in second. In the second heat, it was Tony with the win, and the overall victory. He also extended his World Championship points lead. Second overall today was Clement Desalle, who put in a great ride in the first moto to come from a poor start all the way up to third. And Tanel Leok finished the second heat in fifth, garnering him 3rd overall on the day.
