MX1 – World MX Champ Tony Cairoli, from Italy and racing the KTM 350, is leaving no doubt as to who the best racer in the World Championship series is, as he swept both motos in Sweden, and extends his championship series points lead as well. Clement Desalle was second in both races today.
A quote from KTM Red Bull’s Tony Cairoli on his double moto victory: “This is not really my favorite track but I’ve had some good races in all my years here so I wanted to win because now we’ll have a long break. It was good for me to take victory in the GP and that’s what I wanted to do. I was a bit nervous because I had some problems with my knee during the week and I felt something was wrong. But it felt better yesterday and today it was perfect.”
MX2 – Steven Frossard, racing for Kawasaki, won his first ever MX2 Grand Prix, with finishes of 1/2. ‘Young’ Jeffrey Herlings finished second overall, with finishes of 2/4. Ken Roczen was up front in both motos, but had a technical problem while challenging Frossard for the lead in the first moto … but Ken came back to win the second moto. Defending World Champion and series points leader Marvin Musquin of France went 4/5 for fifth overall on the day.
Notes: German racer Max Nagl and KTM have announced that Max will be racing for KTM for at least another 2 years, 2011 & 2012, as Max has agreed to a contract extension.
