RC, MC, & Travis featured on The Tonight Show

Ricky Carmichael, Jeremy McGrath, and Travis Pastrana were featured Friday night, May 11 on ‘The Tonight Show with Jay Leno’ on NBC TV.

Carmichael and McGrath warmed up on a small supercross-style track in the parking lot. Travis Pastrana was on stage with Jay Leno as the guess race commentator. After showing some taped race action, Leno interviewed Ricky and Jeremy, then the two competed in a timed match race. Leno started McGrath and Carmichael one at a time right on the stage, then the riders rode down a hall and into the parking lot.

Each race was about 2 short laps, with a triple jump added in the middle to show plenty of ‘airtime’. The riders then rode back into the studio and made a short jump back onto the stage which featured some small fireworks.

The winner of “The Tonight Show Trophy” was Carmichael, with a time just .8 seconds better than McGrath’s.

The television audience for the show was estimated to be 6 million people.
