121st FIM Congress, 2003 MX schedule

The 121st Congress of the FIM ended today with the last session of the General Assembly. How’s this for a number – a record 77 different countries were represented with their delegations!





Here is some news for 2003 World MX:



Classes:



Motocross GP World Championship – 250cc 2-stroke and over 290cc up to 450cc 4-stroke



125 Motocross World Championship – 125cc 2-stroke and over 175cc up to 250cc 4-stroke



650 Motocross World Championship – 500cc 2-stroke and over 475cc up to 650cc 4-stroke





Entries:



For the 125cc, the number of entries is limited to 50 at each event. For the Motocross GP and 650cc classes, a maximum of 40 riders each. (In the Motocross GP class at the first race of the season, the first 12 riders from the previous year’s 250cc standings, and the first eight from the previous year’s 500cc standings are entered.)





Qualifying in the 125cc class will involve pre-qualifying practices, two qualifying races (two groups of 25 riders, 20 minutes + two laps) and a last chance qualifying practice.





The schedule on Sunday race day will be:

  • Motocross GP race 12:05
  • 125 race – 1:35
  • 650 race – 3:05
